Job DescriptionBrightpoint Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education located within the Greater Richmond metropolitan area. The college serves students and the community at its two campuses, in Chester and Midlothian, as well as online and in other locations throughout its service area.
Brightpoint Community College’s mission is to provide quality educational opportunities that inspire student success and community vitality. The Division of Engineering, Business, and Technology seeks qualified adjunct instructors to support and enhance its Engineering Technology programs.
ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will teach foundational and applied topics in Robotics and Mechatronic systems.
Responsibilities include:
- Deliver classroom and laboratory instruction in sensors and actuators, industrial automation, robotic kinematics, microcontrollers, PLCs, control systems, and system integration.
- Provide hands‑on, application‑focused learning to prepare students for careers in advanced manufacturing, automation, and engineering technology.
- Manage multiple instructional responsibilities and meet established deadlines.
- Demonstrated knowledge in one or more of the following areas: sensors, actuators, and system instrumentation; robotics fundamentals, robotic arms, kinematics, and automation; mechatronic systems and electromechanical integration; microcontrollers, PLCs, embedded systems, or industrial controls.
- Ability to provide effective classroom and laboratory instruction.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to support diverse student populations.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Ability to demonstrate best practices in teaching engineering or technical courses in a community college environment.
- Teaching or industry experience in robotics, mechatronics, automation, or related engineering technology fields.
- Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, Solid Works, or similar).
Adjunct faculty teaching is limited to a maximum of 8 credit hours in the summer semester, 12 credit hours in the fall semester, and 12 credit hours in the spring semester.
