Qualified Accountant (9-12 Month FTC)

Chesterfield £55,000 Office-Based Manufacturing

We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established manufacturer seeking a Qualified Accountant to join their Chesterfield site on a 9-12 month fixed-term contract.

The business has been trading for approximately 20 years and generates circa £10m turnover. Following a recent acquisition by a larger organisation within the same sector, the Chesterfield operation continues to run as a standalone division while longer-term group structure plans are reviewed.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong, hands-on accountant who enjoys operating in a site-based leadership role, while also engaging with a wider group finance function.

The Role

Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, you will act as the senior finance lead on site, working closely with a small, long-standing transactional team. This is a broad and varied position with responsibility for:

• Full P&L and balance sheet ownership
• Cash flow management
• Month-end management accounts
• Budgets and forecasting
• Tax and statutory compliance
• Analysis of sales, costs, stock, capex and investments
• Liaison with and support of group finance
• Improvement of processes, procedures and systems

This role requires someone comfortable being the technical finance presence on site, while maintaining a collaborative and supportive approach with the local team.

About You

We are looking for:

• A fully Qualified Accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent)
• Proven experience within a manufacturing environment
• Experience operating in a Site Accountant / standalone capacity
• Strong technical accounting capability
• A hands-on, pragmatic approach
• The ability to work effectively with a small transactional team while reporting into a larger group structure

Package & Benefits

• £55,000 salary
• 39 hours per week (08:30-17:00 Monday-Thursday, 08:30-16:00 Friday, 30-minute break)
• Full-time preferred, though 4 days per week will be considered
• Office-based in Chesterfield
• 25 days annual leave + 4 paid days at Christmas + bank holidays
• Pension (4% employee / 5% employer contribution)
• Quarterly 10% company bonus (EBITDA related)
• On-site parking
