Sharp Consultancy are delighted to be working with a growing organisation based in Chesterfield as they look to appoint a Finance Officer to join their established administrative team.

The Role

As Finance Officer, you will take responsibility for a broad range of finance and administrative duties, playing a key role in the smooth day-to-day running of the finance department.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Manage the day-to-day finance function, using Xero, including invoicing, payments and month-end reporting.
  • Complete bank reconciliations, VAT returns and financial reconciliations.
  • Maintain payroll, pension and timesheet records.
  • Manage outstanding payments
  • Process supplier payments
  • Maintain accurate financial and administrative records.
  • Liaise with the management team, Finance Director and external accountants as required.
The successful candidate will ideally have:
  • Previous experience working with accounting systems, with Xero experience preferable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Experience working within a busy office environment.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills.
  • A flexible, proactive and can-do approach.
  • The confidence to deal with members and visitors both face-to-face, via email and over the telephone.
  • The ability to communicate confidently with senior stakeholders and club directors.
  • A strong team-focused approach.
  • AAT qualified or part-qualified status would be desirable.
  • Previous experience with VAT partial exemption rules would also be advantageous.
