Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced physiotherapist to join the Critical Care and Surgical physiotherapy team at Chesterfield Royal Hospital. This proactive team covers many speciality wards including Intensive Care and High Dependency Units, as well as specialist surgical wards including colorectal, urology, gynaecology and ENT. There is also an opportunity to develop skills to contribute to the Amputee Outpatient service.
We are a friendly physiotherapy team who strive to provide excellent patient care with compassion, dignity and respect. We seek applicants with experience working within the acute setting and up‑to‑date knowledge of current developments in surgical and critical care, as well as discharge planning. The Trust supports staff development through appraisals, supervision and training, and provides clinical placements for students from Sheffield, Derby and Nottingham.
The successful applicant will have experience supervising under‑graduate students.
- Work with Lead Senior Physiotherapists in Critical Care, Surgery and Amputees to co‑ordinate and monitor an effective and efficient service to meet the needs of inpatients referred across Surgery and Critical Care.
- Manage autonomously a complex inpatient caseload requiring Physiotherapy and MDT joint assessments on Critical Care and Surgical Wards.
- Take responsibility for training, supervision and appraisals of more junior staff.
- Participate in the 7‑day respiratory service to the medical, surgical and critical care wards and the emergency on‑call respiratory service.
- Work with the Head of Physiotherapy and other senior physiotherapy colleagues to monitor, evaluate and develop existing services in Critical Care and Surgery in line with the changing needs of the Trust.
- Depending on experience and service need, gain experience working within our Amputee Outpatient clinics.
We provide a full range of district general services including urgent and emergency care, specialist children’s services, maternity and community midwifery. We also offer primary care through several GP practices. Our vision is to achieve exceptional care provided by exceptional people; our mission is to bring our people, communities and partners together, providing patient care we can all be proud of.
We are firmly rooted in the founding principles of the NHS and have built on this by 'Leading the Chesterfield Way' with our Proud to CARE values.
