The Role
We’re recruiting an electrically biased Maintenance Supervisor for a leading manufacturing business in Chesterfield. You’ll oversee all maintenance activity across the site — ensuring machinery, equipment and facilities run safely, efficiently and with minimal downtime.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll guide the maintenance team, manage preventive maintenance, respond to breakdowns, and drive continuous improvement across plant reliability.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, supervise and develop the maintenance team
Ensure 100% compliance with planned preventive maintenance schedules
Respond quickly to electrical and mechanical breakdowns to minimise downtime
Manage maintenance budgets, spare parts, contractors and CMMS records
Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, environmental and statutory regulations
Monitor equipment performance and identify improvement opportunities
Plan and manage shutdowns, maintenance projects and new equipment installations
Support root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions
Maintain accurate maintenance documentation and performance reports
Work closely with production to maximise equipment uptime
Drive continuous improvement using KPIs such as uptime, MTTR and MTBF
Requirements
* Degree/HNC/HND or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical or Maintenance Engineering
* 5–10 years’ maintenance experience with supervisory responsibility
* Strong electrical bias — essential
* Apprentice trained
* Solid mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic knowledge
* Experience using CMMS/maintenance management software
* Excellent leadership, planning, budgeting and problem-solving skills
* Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation and engineering best practice
Desirable
* PLC and automation experience
* 18th Edition
* IOSH/NEBOSH or equivalent
* Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma or CI methodologies
Working Conditions
Office, workshop and manufacturing environment
Occasional travel and on-call support (phone/email/text)
PPE required where applicable
Hands-on support when needed
