Competitive Hourly Rate Evening Caretaker - Oxford We are currently recruiting for a dependable and proactive Caretaker to join a busy educational site in Oxford on a 6-week temporary contract. Working as part of the site team, you will play a key role in ensuring the school premises remain safe, secure, clean and operational during the evening shift. This position would suit an experienced Caretaker, Site Assistant, Facilities Operative or Maintenance Assistant with a strong work ethic and excellent attention to detail.
Due to the nature of the environment, all applicants must hold a valid Enhanced DBS certificate or be willing to undergo the appropriate checks.
The Role You will be responsible for the day-to-day caretaking of the school buildings and grounds during evening hours, ensuring the site is safe and secure for staff, students and visitors. Duties will include carrying out routine site inspections, basic maintenance and repairs, room set-ups, security checks, locking and securing buildings, monitoring contractors where required and responding to facilities-related issues throughout the shift.
The successful candidate will assist with maintaining a clean, tidy and well-presented environment, report defects and hazards, support health and safety compliance and ensure the premises are prepared for the following day. About You The ideal candidate will have previous experience within a caretaking, facilities, maintenance or building support role. You will be practical, reliable and capable of working independently whilst demonstrating a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Good communication skills, a strong awareness of health and safety and the ability to undertake light maintenance duties are essential. An Enhanced DBS Certificate is required for this position.
