We are looking for an Engineering Manager who can bring energy, positivity and direction to a team that is ready for a fresh start. Someone who enjoys getting people on board, building relationships and creating an environment where people want to come to work and do a good job.
You will be joining a busy 24/7 manufacturing site in Chesterfield with around 120 employees in a fast-moving manufacturing environment. There are plenty of challenges to get stuck into, but also a huge opportunity to make a real difference.
Reporting directly to the Factory Manager, you will have full responsibility for the maintenance function. This is a leadership role rather than a hands‑on engineering position. You will set the direction, develop your team, improve processes and help move the department from reactive to proactive.
What You Will Be Doing:- Lead and develop the maintenance team, creating a positive and accountable culture.
- Build engagement and morale within the department.
- Support and coach your direct reports to help them grow and succeed.
- Drive continuous improvement projects across the site.
- Bring structure and focus back to preventative maintenance activities.
- Work closely with production and other departments to improve reliability and performance.
- Identify recurring issues and implement long‑term solutions rather than quick fixes.
- Help the maintenance function play a key role in delivering site performance targets.
You will manage a team of 16 people through two direct reports:
- Maintenance Supervisor
- Maintenance Coordinator
The wider team includes 12 Engineers, a Facilities Engineer and an Apprentice.
Who We Are Looking For:We are not overly concerned about qualifications. What matters most is finding the right person.
You will be someone who naturally builds relationships, earns trust and gets the best out of people. You will have experience leading maintenance teams in a manufacturing environment and know what good looks like when it comes to reliability, planning and continuous improvement.
Most importantly, you will be the type of leader who sees challenges as opportunities and enjoys taking people on the journey with you.
Likely Experience Includes:- Leading maintenance teams and departments within manufacturing.
- Managing managers and developing leadership capability.
- Continuous improvement and reliability‑focused maintenance.
- TPM, PPM, CBM and RCM methodologies.
- CMMS systems (SAP experience would be a bonus).
- Delivering operational and maintenance KPIs.
- Stores management and stock control oversight.
If you are the kind of leader who can bring people together, create momentum and build a maintenance function that people are proud to be part of, get in touch with Josh Sharkey from Stirling Warrington.
