About Monkey Park

Monkey Park is a community enterprise based in Brampton, Chesterfield. Our community hub includes a cafe, bicycle workshop & co‑working/meeting space. We bring people together to enhance the economy, environment & opportunities.

What are we looking for?

Candidates need experience in marketing strategy and the ability to think strategically. They need a passion to make a difference to the community as well as excellent people skills.

What will you be doing?

Monkey Park is a "not for profit" business and our purpose is to improve the local community by bringing people together and supporting their efforts to change the local area. We employ and pay people for jobs they do at Monkey Park and strive to make sure we’re enhancing the local economy. We also offer work experience and volunteer opportunities. Any profit is used to continue improving and growing the enterprise for the needs of our community.

We are seeking a Communications Director to join our Board, which currently comprises some dedicated volunteers from the local area, each bringing diverse skills and perspectives to guide our efforts.

As Communications Director, you will play a vital role in overseeing our communications strategy, ensuring Monkey Park communicates well with its community. This will help to ensure its long‑term sustainability. The Board of Directors meets once a month on a weekday evening. This role is voluntary, offering a meaningful opportunity to contribute to a dynamic community‑focused organisation.

Qualifications
  • Communications strategy and planning expertise (e.g. developing a communications plan).
  • An understanding of the challenges and opportunities faced by community enterprises.
  • A passion for community development and a commitment to our mission.
  • The ability to dedicate time to monthly board meetings and occasional additional tasks.
