SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Birth-to-School Instructional Assistant is responsible for assisting the coordinator in all aspects of the Duneland School Corporation's Birth-to-School Early Learning Program also known as the DSC Early Learning HUB.

MISSION OF DUNELAND'S BIRTH-TO-SCHOOL HUB PROGRAM

Duneland School Corporation's Birth-to-School HUB program will create outreach opportunities that will help children and their families build relationships, access information, foster school readiness, and increase awareness of available resources. The activities & opportunities held in DSC's Birth-to-School HUB will assist families in guiding their children to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Background in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or Social Work preferred
  • Associates Degree in Early Childhood or related field preferred
  • Experience working with children and families
  • Understanding of developmentally appropriate and culturally relevant practices for children 0 to 5 (before kindergarten) and their families.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Uphold child and caregiver safety and security while maintaining cleanliness throughout programs and events.
  • Regularly clean toys following the guidelines for early childhood hygiene.
  • Assist the Birth-to-School HUB Instructional Lead by instructing and supervising the children and their caregivers participating in Early Learning HUB activities.
  • Assist with enrolling children and families in the DSC Birth-to-School HUB events.
  • Share information, monitor success, and promote DSC's Birth-to-School HUB initiative in the community through various channels such as flyers, posters, phone calls, and community agencies.
  • Assist the Birth-to-School HUB Instructional Lead and Early Learning Coordinator by providing families with resources and connecting them with community agencies.
  • Assist the Birth-to-School HUB Instructional Lead and Early Learning Coordinator to design and implement engaging activities and opportunities for children ages 0-5 and their caregivers.
  • Support the Birth-to-School HUB Program Instructional Lead in promoting, executing, and facilitating caregiver events.
  • Collaborate with volunteers and staff to organize & implement early learning activities.
  • Engage with community stakeholders to actively advocate on behalf of Duneland School Corporation children and families.
  • Interact with and supervise families during open gym, classes, and any time they are in the Early Learning HUB.
  • Prepare and distribute informational program materials to ensure clear communication.
  • Assist in promoting DSC's Birth-to-School Early Childhood initiative throughout the community.
  • Perform various duties as needed or directed.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by immediate supervisors and district administrators.
