Join the Washington College Athletics team as an Assistant Swim Coach, supporting the Head Coach and Aquatic Director in supervising the Casey Swim Center. The role requires leadership, coaching, and operational responsibilities in accordance with college objectives, NCAA regulations, and local health guidelines.
Job SummaryAssists the Head Coach and Aquatic Director in the supervision of the Casey Swim Center. Acts within the scope of authority and consistent with the college objectives, guidelines, policies and practices.
Essential Functions- Assist the Head Coach in organizing and conducting practice sessions.
- Assist in recruiting student‑athletes.
- Monitor academic progress of student‑athletes through academic advising and referrals.
- Enforce training rules and monitor conduct of athletes representing Washington College on and off campus.
- Recommend athletes for awards.
- Ensure institutional compliance by adhering to all NCAA, Centennial Conference and sport organization policies.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Athletic Director or Head Coach.
- Provide van transportation to away contests when needed.
- Supervise the facility, ensuring knowledge of occupants and equipment, and readiness for emergencies.
- Set up and take down for college and high‑school events.
- Vacuum or clean the pool weekly or as required.
- Perform daily pool testing per Health Department requirements.
- Establish weekly guard schedules, evaluate, and discipline personnel.
- Conduct staff in‑service training on emergency procedures at least once a semester.
- Communicate to the public about aquatic programs, membership, and pool hours.
- Maintain the facility during the Head Coach’s absences.
- Complete weekly safety equipment and facility checklist.
Perform other duties assigned by the Aquatic Director or Director of Athletics.
EducationBachelor’s degree preferred.

- Accountable to the Director of Athletics.
- Accountable to the Head Coach / Aquatic Director.
- Consults with the Director of Athletics, Head Coach, other Assistant Coaches, Equipment Manager, Administrative Assistant, and Student Athletes.
- Indoor, temperature‑controlled environment.
- Outdoor exposure to weather.
- Frequent van and car driving.
- Possible exposure to blood or blood‑borne pathogens; required Hepatitis B vaccine and exposure‑prone task training.
- Hours determined by the Head Coach; documented bi‑weekly.
- Weeknights and weekends frequently required.
