MRI Technologist – Washington Radiology
Location:
Chevy Chase, MD
Work Hours:
PRN/As Needed (12 hours/week anticipated)

- Perform magnetic resonance imaging procedures as prescribed by a physician.
- Instruct patients on physiological requirements for the procedure.
- Ascertain contraindications for MRI (e.g., staples, pacemakers, magnetic prostheses).
- Assist the physician by determining the area of injury or symptoms to aid diagnosis.
- Prepare patients for examination, explain procedures, position for exam, administer contrast, and provide post‑procedure assistance.
- Ensure all consent forms are signed prior to examinations.
- Accurately record all pertinent exam information, including direct computer entry as directed.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area, complying with OSHA and HIPAA requirements.
- Recognize reactions to contrast media and be prepared to intervene, including administering CPR if necessary.
- Operate in full compliance with all corporate policies and procedures.
- Report equipment or maintenance issues to the appropriate personnel.
- Promote a team approach and a positive image of Washington Radiology to all contacts.
- Maintain confidentiality when handling patient information and corporate business.
- Prepare and administer gadolinium to patients.
- Assist in clerical and reception areas, manage patient records, and participate in quality‑assurance monitoring.
- Perform preventative or corrective maintenance as directed, documenting appropriately.
- Take initiative for professional advancement by assessing strengths and weaknesses and developing an action plan with supervisors.
- Possibly perform or assist with other medical procedures as directed and qualified.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent plus completion of an accredited imaging technology training program.
- Registered as an MR technologist within one year of employment.
- Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
- Certified in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation within 90 days of employment and renewal annually.
- Licensed by the state for all technologists operating in Maryland and Virginia.
- Ability to lift and move patients as required.
