Job Description & How to Apply Below
Data Drone builds 0-1 SaaS products and the team that ships them. No bosses, no managers - the playbook manages, the copilot tracks. Every role owns a small, defined space with extreme accountability. The product's brand identity is distinctive, unapologetic, and instantly recognizable. We need someone who protects that identity across every touchpoint.
What You'll DoYou'll own the visual identity. The Brand Guideline is yours - maintaining it, enforcing it, evolving it. Every piece of content that goes external passes your standard. You're the quality gate for brand consistency - the same way QA ensures code quality, you ensure brand quality. You don't produce define the bar and ensure everyone hits it.
Daily Rhythm (How You Operate)- Within 24 hours: review submitted work and provide specific, actionable, guideline-referenced feedback.
- Per new format: review for brand compliance before first publish.
- Weekly: keep the brand asset library organized, labeled, and version-controlled - no old logos floating around.
- Monthly: run the cross-touchpoint brand audit - website, social, newsletter, collateral.
- Always: evolve the brand intentionally - documented changes, never ad-hoc experiments.
- Own and maintain the Brand Guideline - colors, typography, logo usage, application rules
- Manage the brand asset library - logo files, fonts, color codes, templates, organized and accessible
- Review new content formats for brand compliance before first publish
- Run monthly cross-touchpoint brand audits - website, social, newsletter, collateral
- Provide specific, actionable brand feedback within 24 hours
- Evolve the brand intentionally - documented changes, not ad-hoc experiments
- You've managed a brand identity for a company or product. Not just designed - maintained, enforced, and evolved it over time.
- You can write a brand guideline that a junior team member follows without asking you for interpretation.
- You have a sharp eye for visual consistency - you spot the wrong font weight, the slightly-off color, the logo with incorrect spacing.
- You can provide specific, actionable feedback. "Use the bold display weight for headlines, not the body font" - not "this doesn't feel right."
- You can manage a brand asset library. Organized, labeled, version-controlled. No old logos floating around.
- You can balance protection with evolution. A brand that never changes becomes stale. A brand that changes randomly becomes unrecognizable.
- Experience with bold, high-contrast visual identities
- Experience with Canva team environments (template creation, brand kit management)
- Experience managing brand compliance across multiple content producers simultaneously
- Experience writing brand guidelines used by non-designers
- Portfolio showing before/after brand consistency improvements
- The guideline is the constitution. It's not a suggestion. It's the standard. You enforce it because inconsistency erodes trust faster than bad content.
- Specific beats subjective. "Wrong font" is actionable. "Doesn't feel right" isn't. Your feedback references the guideline, not your personal taste.
- Fast reviews, not slow bottlenecks. If content production slows because you take 3 days to review, you've failed - even if your feedback is perfect.
- Evolution is intentional. New brand applications happen through the guideline first, then into production. Never the reverse.
- The asset library is sacred. If someone uses the wrong logo because they couldn't find the right one, that's your failure - not theirs.
- Internal still counts. If it has the logo on it, it represents the brand. Consistency doesn't stop at the customer-facing boundary.
- 60 Days
- Inconsistencies fixed. Review process…
