Project OverviewBechtel Infrastructure’s Renewables & Clean Power business line seeks qualified project controls professionals for a forthcoming combined cycle power plant project planned in Wyoming. The project team will be initially based in Reston, VA; following contract award, selected candidates will relocate to the designated project site. This is an exciting opportunity to support our re‑emerging power business and contribute to society.
Job SummaryIn this role you will estimate, analyze, and control cost activities for projects with significant non‑routine requirements or demanding a high degree of technical skill. You will prepare cost studies, review cost trends, and develop and implement project requirements for cost control, providing innovative solutions to cost engineering challenges.
Major Responsibilities- Perform generally non‑routine cost estimating, analysis, and control activities.
- Coordinate the implementation of cost monitoring and control standards, techniques, systems, and reports.
- Coordinate the development and accuracy of cost reports.
- Verify consistency with previous reports to ensure compatibility and consistency.
- Prepare specific budgets in accordance with prescribed standards and procedures.
- Investigate the requirements for estimating and/or cost control data.
- Collect and classify cost data.
- Perform budget allocation and reporting/cost control regime for specific construction discipline or group of disciplines.
- Identify cost trends for management attention.
- Prepare cost studies using historical data, statistical analysis, and cost and quantity comparisons.
- Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 8–10 years of relevant experience, or 12–14 years of relevant work experience.
- Demonstrated experience in executing, monitoring, and evaluating cost engineering activities, including cost estimation, cost control, and cost analysis.
- Experience performing cost trend estimates in support of project cost trend programs.
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
- Thorough knowledge of financial reporting systems and controller account codes, as well as a solid understanding of relevant controller instructions that affect project controls.
- Competence in engineering, procurement, contracting, construction, and startup processes, in accordance with Bechtel’s operational standards.
- Experience reviewing designs and specifications for cost effectiveness and suggesting alternatives when appropriate.
- Experience in preparing cost studies utilizing historical data, statistical analysis, and cost and quantity comparisons. Develop innovative new techniques to meet specific needs as required.
