The rapid growth of AI and digitalization is fueling unprecedented demand for data centers that require large, reliable sources of energy. In response to this market trend, the Renewables & Clean Power (R&CP) team have signed an early works contract to build one of the largest gas fired power generation facilities in the U.S.
Our team is helping the customer progress early-stage development, that would lead to the start of full EPC delivery next year. The candidate will act as the Tranche Project Manager on the CCGT Project in Cheyenne, Wyoming. This position will begin in Reston, VA for 6‑9 months to support preconstruction planning, ahead of project mobilization to the field when the candidate will locate on a long‑term assignment to the project in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
This position is contingent upon project award.
The Project Manager will lead the planning, execution, and delivery of the 230kV Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) substation and associated utility grid connection works. This position will serve as the point of contact and senior interface with the client and will be responsible for managing all activities to achieve a successful outcome for this project. This includes supervising the development of the project’s scope of work, budgets and schedules, managing performance, reporting on progress, and initiating actions as required to assure program/project objectives and schedules are met and work is performed within budget and according to specifications.

- Establish and implement management philosophy and procedures for the execution of the project to ensure consistency of approach and the sharing of information and experiences with broader project team.
- Establish and implement staffing plans.
- Regularly monitor the progress of active project and ensure that responsible actions are being taken by members of the project team. Review and approve critical plans and/or documents for assigned scope.
- Oversee the operational performance of the 230kV GIS and Utility Grid Connection scope on a large combined cycle power plant site, ensuring safety, reliability, compliance, and financial performance goals are met.
- Manage all interfaces between equipment suppliers and relevant subcontractors.
- Manage GIS substation design and integration with utility grid.
- Manage interface with utility company for grid compliance and interconnection details.
- Identify and expedite procurement of long‑lead items such as GIS, transformers, cables.
- Negotiate contracts and manage subcontractor relationships and performance.
- Manage timely delivery schedule and enforce project quality assurance protocols.
- Supervise site mobilization, relevant civil works, and phased GIS installation.
- Direct the activities of assigned staff and provide for proper delegation of management authority, responsibility, and accountability.
- Ensure that interdepartmental problems are resolved promptly and that an integrated approach is followed in the performance of the project.
- Review and approve the release of assigned scope cost estimates, schedules, major trends, and forecasts to customers. Also review and approve major changes or deviations to these control documents.
