Overview
HDR is currently looking for Regional Transit Planning Practice Leaders to complement our growing Transportation Planning Business Class and Transit Market Sector. From modal service planning and optimization to major capital investment analysis and project development to developing business case analysis and stakeholder engagement, we have the experience to identify and implement the right transit systems.
We aim to maximize value by enhancing transit corridors with smart and sustainable features, using a tailored planning approach that answers each client’s vision and goals.
- Collaborate with HDR’s Transit Planning Practice Leader to identify global and local needs within the practice, industry trends, required skills and emerging markets in the service of developing and advancing a practice group strategy.
- Coordinate within each region to identify market drivers and develop products to meet client needs.
- Present regional transit planning activities and needs on regular Transit Planning Practice Group calls.
- Contribute to the technical development of transit planning staff in the region in policy, systems/network planning, corridor planning and development, operations and safety, funding, and related aspects of all transit modes (paratransit, fixed route, demand response, express bus, bus rapid transit, light rail, commuter rail, intercity passenger rail, etc.).
- Identify market opportunities in close coordination with Area Business Development Leaders and develop winning pursuit strategies.
- Identify industry talent and work with Area and Corporate leadership to attract and retain transit planning staff.
- Lead workshare communications that result in technical excellence and enhanced utilization.
- Serve as a project manager for major transit projects and leverage HDR’s global expertise to deliver quality work on time, while meeting or exceeding client expectations.
- Represent HDR at state and regional-level professional organizations.
- Perform other duties as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Engineering, or related discipline.
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in transit planning, with preference for experience across multiple transit planning areas.
- Experience developing and implementing strategic plans related to team-building, skills development, and/or business development.
- Master’s degree in Planning, Engineering, or related discipline (preferred).
- Professional registration such as AICP, PE, PTOE, PTP, PMP (preferred).
- Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Engineering or a related field.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in transportation planning.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills.
- Understanding of transit planning principles.
- Positive attitude and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and personnel.
- Solid business development skills with the ability to relate well to clients and demonstrate presentation skills.
