GENERAL DESCRIPTIONThe Department of Family Services (DFS) is currently seeking to hire a Child Care Licensor. This position involves joining a team passionate about serving Wyoming children and families. The licensor will be responsible for creating positive partnerships with providers and communities to ensure children and youth remain safe in licensed childcare facilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Licenses, inspects, and monitors licensed facilities.
- Equitably enforces policies and Wyoming State Statutes.
- Applies licensing rules and policy in a consistent manner throughout the state.
- Provides training and technical assistance to providers.
- Monitors caseload and investigates complaints of facilities.
- Provides input for program improvement.
- Develops program materials
- Responsible for on-site inspections, monitoring visits, and investigation of complaints.
- Performs tasks in a variety of regulatory programs in the enforcement of state and federal statutes and rules.
- Inspects establishments or equipment.
- Investigates complaints.
- Provides education and enforces compliance.li>
- Maintains records and equipment.
- Serve as a witness during hearings as requested.
- Manage a caseload of inspections.
Preference may be given to applicants who have experience in dealing with inspections, care facilities, various state, federal, and Department rules, regulations, policy, and law.
KNOWLEDGE- Skill in interpersonal relations, including listening and oral and written communication.
- Knowledge of investigative techniques.
- Skill in time management.
- Skill in problem identification and management.
- Good judgment skills, analysis and decision making, creative thinking, and adapting to change.
- Knowledge of best practices within the provisions of services for children/youth.
- Ability to read and interpret state statutes, program rules, and policy.
- Ability to work independently with little supervision as well as work within a team.
- Skill in organization with the ability to work on multiple tasks at one time and determine priorities effectively.
- Good customer service skills with a variety of backgrounds, education levels, and professionalism.
- Skill in computer usage.
- Ability to make decisions within the scope of authority.

Bachelor's Degree - Experience:
0-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Inspection) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Inspection Specialist I - OR Education & Experience Substitution: 3-5 years of progressive work experience (typically in Inspection) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Inspection Specialist I

Non-Exempt - All positions within the Department of Family Services will require a background information check, Including the taking of fingerprints, which will be completed through the Wyoming Department of Criminal Investigation, the Department of Family Services and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, for every successful applicant.
