General Description
The Wyoming Department of Health, Healthcare Financing Division, Medication Donation Program is seeking a Wyoming Licensed Pharmacy Technician. The WMDP is a closed-door retail pharmacy, operating as a non-profit charitable healthcare entity, located in Cheyenne. The main goals of the WMDP are to improve medication access to uninsured/underinsured Wyoming residents by redistributing usable medications, processing donations made to the program, and providing disposal for unused medications in an environmentally friendly manner.
Under the direction of a pharmacist, a pharmacy technician will primarily provide patient services under the scope of the program. Additionally, a pharmacy technician will support essential program functions and administrative/periodic duties as required or assigned.
This position is regular time (30 hrs/week) and is eligible for benefits. The expected work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 3:00 pm with a 30‑minute lunch break. There are no required holiday or weekend hours for the position.

Essential Functions- Participating in daily pharmacy workflow such as processing and filling prescriptions, calling providers for prescription clarifications, answering phones promptly and professionally, checking voicemails periodically, processing program eligibility applications, and following up with applicants, complying with HIPAA requirements at all times.
- Initiating and following through with Prescription Assistance Program (PAP) applications, responding to patient emails, filling orders for dispensing sites, following up with phone calls for eligibility applications, following up with providers, and keeping the pharmacy’s Wait List up to date.
- Inventory management including, but not limited to, filing completed prescriptions, weighing in and logging incoming donations, responding to public emails about donating/disposal, sorting donated medications to determine if it can be used or should be disposed of, entering usable medications into computer inventory, accurately putting medications away on pharmacy shelves, disposing of unusable medications appropriately, keeping the pharmacy overstock list up to date, performing quarterly cycle counts, pulling expired medications monthly from assigned section in the pharmacy, ordering of medications.
- Reviewing and processing the weekly FDA report, removing unused cardboard from the pharmacy to the recycle bin, replenishing necessary forms that are running low, replenishing work stations with pharmacy supplies, ordering office supplies, attending department meetings, calling the State Lab for available donations and picking them up, participating in community events, and other duties assigned or required.
- Knowledge of medications, such as brand and generic substitutions, classes, general uses, and dosing.
- Skills in accurate data entry, medical abbreviations, and professional email etiquette.
- Math skills required to accurately determine days’ supply, quantity, and remaining refills.
- Detail‑oriented with strong time management and organizational skills.
- Working knowledge of Wyoming State regulations and rules relating to the practice of pharmacy.
Education:
Associate’s Degree (typically in Healthcare).
Experience:
0–2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Healthcare) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Health Care Assistant OR 2–4 years of progressive work experience (typically in Healthcare) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Health Care Assistant under Education & Experience Substitution.

- Due to the nature of this position, telework opportunities are not available.
- Typically, the employee will sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there will be walking, standing, bending, and carrying light items.

Non‑exempt. - The Wyoming Department of Health is an E‑Verify employer.
- A Wyoming Pharmacy Technician License is required before the start date. Nationally certified candidates through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board or the National Healthcare Association may be considered.
