. Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) is the engine that powers our cloud services. As a CO+I ERM, you will perform a key role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft s online services including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, One Drive, and the Microsoft Azure platform. The primary focus is reducing stranded capacity by applying optimization techniques of space, power, cooling and network.

You will be a key member of the local Datacenter Operations team in the deployment planning and optimization of the IT capacity, working closely with Electrical Engineers and Critical Environment Field Service Engineers. Our infrastructure includes a large global portfolio of more than 200 datacenters in 32 countries and millions of servers. We are committed to environmental sustainability and continuous improvement in datacenter design and operations.

The role supports growth and development through internal trainings and growth opportunities. The role is based in CO+I and involves collaboration across teams to meet business demands. The application window closes on September 12, 2025.

Responsibilities
  • Data Center Operations:
    Manage IT allocation at the Campus/Metro level by collaborating with key stakeholders and ensuring demands are properly allocated across the IT infrastructure.
  • Familiarize with Data Center design and manage IT resources by performing virtual failure analysis and developing a master allocation plan to drive operationalization of customer capacity.
  • Ensure compliance with data center business units and service-level policies.
  • Engage with appropriate teams and resources to execute tasks or projects.
  • Manage programs associated with the area of responsibility.
  • Monitor costs to adhere to budget requirements and contribute to staying within budget.
  • Follow safety and security policies and procedures; report any safety or security issues or concerns.
  • Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) processes as appropriate.
  • Raise risks to IT capacity allocation and planning; identify power stranding and contractual inconsistencies (leased spaces).
  • Maintain accurate critical environment information (tooling).
  • Lead programs and projects through leadership forums aligning scope, schedule, and cost to OKRs.
  • Service Delivery:
    Manage assigned projects or programs to meet service delivery objectives and escalate obstacles to stakeholders.
  • Assess potential customer impact of events and issues; communicate impact and plan accordingly.
  • Review schedules to avoid conflicts; coordinate, manage expectations, and offer alternatives when defining customer solutions.
  • Manage relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure expectations are clarified, understood, documented, and met.
  • Data Center Work Environment:
    Share best practices, mentor across data centers, collaborate with SMEs across CO+I and engineering groups to gain program insights, and develop solutions to mitigate customer gaps.
  • Seek training opportunities aligned with business goals and personal career objectives.
  • Suggest improvements in implementation based on depth of understanding; contribute to a positive team environment and cross-discipline collaboration.
  • Ownership:
    Hold self-accountable for end-to-end service quality, availability, safety, security, and customer experience; support escalation to the appropriate owner.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent AND 2+ years’ experience supporting IT equipment or related technology or delivering server and network deployment projects in large-scale environments. OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years’ experience in Critical Environment infrastructure (e.g., UPS, PDUs, Generators, AHU/CFM); ability to read and interpret electrical one-line diagrams and work with IT infrastructure modifications (e.g., Cable trays, Fiber Runners, HACs and IT equipment).
