Location:

Cheyenne, WY

Salary: $66,000.00 – $

Responsibilities

As a Small Group Underwriting Supervisor at BCBSWY, you will play a role in supervising the underwriting operations for small group health plans and other products available to small employers. Your primary responsibility will be supervising a team of underwriters and ensuring the accurate and timely evaluation of small group underwriting projects.

In this role, you will oversee the day‑to‑day activities of the small group underwriting team, providing guidance, support, and training to ensure high‑quality and efficient work. You will also have the opportunity to mentor your team, foster a collaborative environment, and resolve challenges that arise, ensuring smooth workflow and high team performance.

As a leader, you will work closely with the small group underwriting team to maintain accurate underwriting standards, assist in complex cases, and ensure compliance with industry regulations. You will contribute to our mission of providing quality health coverage to Wyoming residents, all while working in a collaborative and supportive environment.

As a recognized BCBSWY employee, we count on you to positively serve in the role of "Brand Ambassador" for the company, ensuring that our underwriting processes align with our commitment to quality, integrity, and customer satisfaction. Whether you're working with Sales or your underwriting team, you'll be a trusted resource for underwriting expertise and support.

To thrive in this role, you'll need to bring a strong background in underwriting principles, team leadership, and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively. Your experience in small group health plans, solid decision‑making abilities, and strong communication skills will be key to successfully leading your team and maintaining our standards of excellence.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED. An associate's degree, with an emphasis in math or business, is preferred; commensurate experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Group underwriting experience, a strong understanding of health insurance underwriting principles, and experience training others on processes—whether in a formal or informal leadership role—are strongly preferred.
