The Senior Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring that operations are safe, environment is protected, plants are performing efficiently, production volume is met, and quality is assured.
Will manage the long term planning & execution of turnarounds, financial improvements, team development & continuous improvement of the production units.
Other duties include
- Maintain protection of the environment and the health and safety of the employees, customers, and the communities in which the plant operates as the highest priority
- Ensure that Process Safety and Risk Management principles are incorporated into the foundation of the department operations. Ensure annual departmental goals/objectives include meaningful Process Safety activities
- Direct the Production Departments in practices, standards, specifications, and policies that comply with the process safety code of Responsible Care and Process Safety Management (PSM)
- Direct the Production Departments in a manner to reduce costs, improve productivity, increase reliability, improve process quality and enhance safety and environmental performance
- Develop and control the budget requirements including monitoring expenditures, adjusting priorities, and forecasting future expenditures
- Promote and support a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible work environment. Ensure a positive and harassment-free environment for all employees
- Responsible for identifying training needs and training opportunities for all subordinates
- Ensure that plant goals are met on both a short-term and long-term basis
- Coordinate plant activities so that production schedules and product development activities are executed to meet production and quality requirements
- Review and prioritize plant projects and make cost effective decisions
- Communicate regularly with shift personnel, as well as other plant groups, in order to resolve problems and transmit information
- Maintain performance tracking data, including production reporting, and communicate progress to plant/company personnel
- Administer established company policies
- Develop and administer systems to make the site operations more efficient
- B.S., Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering degrees
- 3+ years of supervising Operations personnel in a chemical plant environment is required
- 3+ years of experience in a plant maintenance or engineering role would be beneficial
- Knowledge/certification in Lean Six Sigma and continuous improvement would be ideal
- Experience leading operational transformation combined with organizational, communication and leadership skills
- Complete understanding of Safety, Quality, Uptime, Capacity / Resource Planning
- Ability to lead through others and develop team members through coaching
