Subject Matter Expert; SME; Instrumentation & Controls

We are seeking an experienced Controls Program Manager to lead the reliability, performance, and continuous improvement of building controls and monitoring systems within a mission-critical environment. This role serves as the primary technical owner for BMS, BAS, SCADA, PLC, and related control systems, ensuring operational readiness, system integrity, compliance, and operational excellence.

• Own and maintain the performance, reliability, and operational readiness of all controls and monitoring systems.
• Provide technical leadership for BMS, BAS, SCADA, PLCs, alarm management, monitoring platforms, and system integrations.
• Lead troubleshooting, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Coordinate controls-related maintenance, upgrades, commissioning activities, and vendor-supported work.
• Review and provide technical oversight of programming changes, testing plans, maintenance activities, and operational procedures.
• Partner with Operations, Engineering, Construction, and Commissioning teams to support projects and system enhancements.
• Maintain controls documentation, system architecture records, alarm matrices, network diagrams, and change management records.
• Deliver training and technical coaching to operations and maintenance teams.
• Provide technical escalation support during critical incidents and emergency response events.
• Ensure compliance with safety, cybersecurity, regulatory, and operational standards.
• Communicate system status, risks, performance trends, and project updates to leadership and stakeholders.

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Controls, Automation, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience supporting controls systems in mission-critical, industrial, manufacturing, or data center environments.
• Strong expertise in BMS, BAS, SCADA, PLCs, automation systems, alarm management, trending, controls logic, and system integrations.
• Experience with commissioning, vendor management, maintenance planning, and change management processes.
• Proven ability to develop procedures, training materials, and technical documentation. Strong troubleshooting, communication, and cross-functional leadership skills.
• Technical school, military, or mission-critical operations experience is a plus.

• Data centers, critical facilities, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, utility, or other highly regulated environments.
• Experience working with system integrators, commissioning agents, and third-party service providers.
• Knowledge of CMMS platforms, operational procedures (SOPs, MOPs, EOPs), and critical facility operations.
