OverviewThe Journeyman I will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to steel erection, fabrication, and installation, including structural steel assembly, welding, and rigging. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with strong technical skills and a commitment to safety and quality to advance their career in the construction industry.
Must be available to start right away.
- Structural Steel Erection:
Assist with the layout, assembly, and installation of structural steel components, including beams, columns, and trusses, according to project plans and specifications. - Use hand and power tools, welding equipment, and rigging gear to position and secure steel elements in place, ensuring proper alignment and fit.
- Welding and Fabrication:
Perform welding and cutting operations, including stick welding, MIG welding, and oxyacetylene cutting, to fabricate and repair steel components as needed. - Interpret welding symbols, blueprints, and shop drawings to ensure accuracy and quality of welds and fabrications.
- Rigging and Hoisting:
Assist with rigging and hoisting operations to lift and position steel components using cranes, hoists, and rigging equipment, following proper safety procedures and guidelines. - Inspect rigging equipment and hardware for signs of wear or damage and report any issues to the supervisor for repair or replacement.
- Safety Compliance:
Adhere to all safety regulations, policies, and procedures, and promote a culture of safety awareness and compliance among crew members. - Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and safety training sessions, and report any safety hazards or incidents to the supervisor immediately.
- Quality Assurance:
Perform visual inspections of work performed, checking for proper fit, alignment, and weld quality, and make adjustments or repairs as needed to meet quality standards. - Assist with quality control inspections and testing, ensuring compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
- Team
Collaboration:
Work collaboratively with other crew members, subcontractors, and project stakeholders to ensure efficient and timely completion of construction tasks. - Communicate effectively with supervisors, foremen, and project managers to provide updates on work progress, issues, and concerns.
