About Your RoleThis is a hands‑on, full‑time position with day‑to‑day duties that include enabling the completion of jobs in a timely manner by scheduling and overseeing the work crew, ensuring equipment and materials are available, repairing and maintaining equipment, training crews, and assisting with special projects as assigned. The position also involves placing and finishing concrete slabs using a variety of tools and equipment;
reading blueprints and surveying stakes to obtain direction and elevations of slabs and finished surface requirements; safely operating equipment and being aware of surrounding personnel and structures; and making sound judgments regarding weather and existing conditions prior to pouring concrete. An exceptional Concrete Foreman should demonstrate excellent management and problem‑solving skills as well as enforce compliance with safety regulations.
- Recruit, provide oversight, train, mentor, and assist laborers, form setters, finishers, and equipment operators.
- Perform daily safety and maintenance checks and resolve unsafe work practices or safety hazards immediately to achieve OSHA and company compliance.
- Determine required safety procedures based on job site conditions and materials encountered.
- Ensure all equipment is operated safely and efficiently to maintain job budgets.
- Identify concrete mixes and determine required equipment and procedures to achieve desired finish and performance.
- Work with the designated Safety Crew Member to ensure that Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) forms are completed daily.
- Verify the completion of the pre‑pour and post‑pour checklist.
- Communicate equipment and manpower needs to a Superintendent to meet schedules and deadlines.
- Work with Operations and Mobilization Departments on field orders.
- Understand the project plans and specifications.
- Manage the field to minimize overtime and communicate when overtime is required.
- Verify and approve employee timecard entries daily and approve weekly payroll reports.
- Assist with other duties as assigned.
- Calculate material quantities.
- Collect and verify accuracy of receipts from deliveries or purchases.
- Report delays, accidents, or other traffic and transportation situations to bases or other vehicles.
- Complete daily reports including time spent on the job (employee timecards), weather conditions, subcontractors working for Coloscapes Concrete, and a general daily description of activities performed, delays incurred, and changes directed by the client in the field.
