Job Description:

Youth Participant - Tobacco Purchase Program

The FDA Center for Tobacco Products is seeking minors aged 16-17 and individuals under 20 to assist in a tobacco compliance program. The role involves attempting to purchase tobacco products from local retailers to ensure adherence to federal laws prohibiting sales to minors. This is a part-time position, primarily outside school hours and on weekends.

Immediate Openings in:

Laramie and Casper, Wyoming.

Essential Job Functions:

The Youth Participant will be supervised by an FDA Commissioned Inspector during work shifts.

Receive training prior to conducting purchase attempts.

Be transported to and from retail locations by the FDA Inspector.

Attempt to purchase tobacco products following provided procedures and instructions.

Leave the retailer with or without a purchased item.

Immediately hand over purchased items to the FDA Inspector.

Minimum

Job Qualifications:

Language: Fluency in English (oral and written).

Age: Between 16 and 20 years and 10 months old.

Knowledge: Strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, and ability to dress age-appropriately.

Hours: Flexible, including after school and weekends.

Location: Reside in Wyoming.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to ride in a car for extended periods.
Ability to stand, bend, and walk.
Normal or corrected vision for reading and tasks.
Ability to hear and understand spoken communication.
Light lifting and carrying as needed.

Other Duties:

Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed by supervisors. The position is contingent on funding and contractual restrictions.
