Tax Associate

About the role

Canonical is a technology company focused on open source and global software. This role owns the design, implementation and management of tax processes across multiple entities in a fast growing international business, reporting to the CFO.

What you'll do

• Manage and coordinate corporate tax, VAT and other relevant returns for Canonical entities
• Work with external advisers to develop transfer pricing documentation and tax planning initiatives
• Lead tax audits and enquiries, preparing responses with supporting documentation
• Improve tax processes, controls and data management using technology and automation
• Oversee tax provisioning and IFRS reporting, including effective tax rate calculations
• Collaborate with finance, legal and operations to ensure cross functional alignment

What they're looking for

• ACA/ACCA/CIMA and CTA/ADIT or equivalent qualification
• 3-5 years of relevant tax experience in Big 4/Top 10 or multinational in-house tax team
• Strong academic record and knowledge of global tax considerations
• Experience with transfer pricing, tax compliance and tax technology
• Ability to communicate complex tax concepts to non tax stakeholders
• English proficiency with strong written and spoken presentation skills
