Pharmaceuticals The opportunity Our client is a pharmaceutical business based in Swindon, approaching a busy year-end. They are looking for an experienced Interim Financial Accountant to support the finance team through the close, audit and statutory reporting process, ensuring a smooth, accurate and on-time year-end. This is a hands-on role for someone who can get up to speed quickly, work independently and add value from the first week.

Key responsibilities Support the year-end close, including accruals, prepayments, fixed asset and balance sheet reconciliations Prepare and review journals, ensuring accurate cut-off and period-end adjustments Assist with the preparation of statutory accounts and supporting disclosure notes Act as a key point of contact for external auditors, preparing audit schedules and responding to queries Support group reporting and consolidation packs, including intercompany reconciliations Review inventory valuation and provisions, including slow-moving and obsolete stock Assist with R&D cost capitalisation, grant income and R&D tax credit support Prepare year-end tax and VAT workings in conjunction with tax advisers Identify process improvements and document learnings for next year's close About you Qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent), or qualified by experience Proven experience in financial accounting and year-end, ideally within pharmaceuticals, life sciences or another regulated or R&D-led industry Strong knowledge of UK GAAP (FRS 102), with IFRS exposure a plus Experience supporting external audits Confident working with ERP systems and advanced Excel Organised, detail-focused and comfortable working to tight deadlines What's on offer Competitive day rate Exposure to a high-growth, innovative sector Supportive finance team and a clear scope of work Opportunity to extend, or to move into a permanent role if the fit is right If you're interested in this role, click 'apply now' to forward an up-to-date copy of your CV, or call us now.
