Job Title: Estate Quantity Surveyor

Department: Property Department – Building Consultancy Team

Reporting To: Head of Building Consultancy

Responsible For: Estimating, Financial Management and Contract Administration associated with Maintenance Works and Construction Projects to the Estates Properties, Enterprises and Assets.

Cowdray is a historic and vibrant rural Estate in the South Downs, home to British Polo and a wide variety of unique properties and businesses. We are looking for an experienced Estate Quantity Surveyor to join our Construction Department and play a key role in the conservation, maintenance, and development of our properties and assets.

What we’re looking for:

Must hold a degree level or equivalent qualification in a construction related discipline e.g. Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Building Surveying etc.
Must have a minimum of five years’ experience in the building/construction industry.
Must demonstrate experience of undertaking extension/refurbishment/planned maintenance projects to a variety of property types.
Must be able to demonstrate experience in estimating the cost of construction works.
Must be able to demonstrate experience of successful project and budget management.
Must be able to demonstrate a knowledge of building contracts and their administration.
Must be able to demonstrate a knowledge of statutory and industry compliance requirements including Planning, Building Regulations, Listed Building Consent and Health and Safety Legislation.
Must be able to demonstrate a passionate knowledge and experience of working with historic buildings using traditional repair and conservation techniques.
Must demonstrate a commitment to quality and a high standard of design/workmanship.
Must have excellent interpersonal, communication, IT and organisational skills including proficiency in the use of Excel spreadsheets.
Must be a flexible team player willing to play a key role within the Estate and its wider community.
Must have a full clean driving license and use of a vehicle.

Desirable:

To hold full membership of a recognised professional body e.g. RICS, CIOB, CABE, etc. with at least two years post qualification experience.
To hold a Project Management Qualification.
To hold a Building Conservation Qualification.
To demonstrate experience of preparing schedules/specifications for construction works.
To demonstrate knowledge of specialist computer software such as MS Project, CostX, Bluebeam, Masterbill, JCT Digital etc.

Salary Band: £50,000 to £60,000 per annum
