Overview of the Role
A Project Architect – Defence & Commercial role is available with a design-led architecture practice based in Clerkenwell, London. This position is suited to an experienced Architect with strong technical design capability and proven experience delivering projects through technical design and construction stages.
The Project Architect – Defence & Commercial will join a specialist team delivering technically complex buildings within the defence and commercial sectors across the UK. Projects typically progress through multiple RIBA Stages, requiring close collaboration with consultants, contractors and client teams to ensure both design intent and buildability are maintained.
Working within a collaborative studio environment, the Project Architect – Defence & Commercial will take responsibility for coordinating project delivery, preparing technical drawing packages and supporting construction stage activities. The role offers involvement in projects where security, technical performance and coordinated delivery are critical to successful outcomes.
This opportunity would suit an Architect who enjoys technically challenging work, thrives in a collaborative delivery environment and is confident managing project information throughout the later RIBA Stages.
Practice & Project InformationThe practice employs more than 120 architects, designers and creatives across three UK studios. Its multidisciplinary team works across sectors including commercial, defence, education, residential and healthcare.
Design quality and technical delivery are central to the studio’s approach. Architects and technologists collaborate from early concept design through to construction completion, ensuring that design ambition remains achievable and commercially viable.
Projects within the defence and commercial sectors often involve technically demanding requirements, secure environments and detailed coordination between consultants and contractors. This creates opportunities for architects to develop strong technical expertise while contributing to carefully considered design solutions.
The studio environment encourages knowledge sharing and collaboration between architecture, interior design, landscape architecture and urban design teams. Much of the practice’s workload is generated through long-standing client relationships, resulting in a high level of repeat business developed over more than two decades.
The Project Architect – Defence & Commercial will work closely with experienced architects and technologists in a team that values both design thinking and technical rigour throughout the project lifecycle.
