Overview
Chichester Free School is seeking an exceptional Science teacher to join our team as a full‑time post starting 13 April. The successful candidate will also be invited to apply for a Teacher Leadership and Resourcing (TLR) position across the school. The role is primarily a secondary post, with the possibility to teach across phases for the right candidate.
RoleThe successful candidate will be expected to teach Science from Years 7 to 11. A specialist in Biology, Chemistry or Physics will be welcomed, although a strong general Science background is sufficient. Secondary teachers also act as year‑based tutor group tutors; a time allowance is provided for this role.
Responsibilities- Plan, deliver and assess Science lessons for Years 7 to 11, ensuring the curriculum meets new Science teaching and GCSE requirements.
- Engage pupils in enjoyable, rigorous, and innovative learning, using technology and new pedagogy to explore scientific concepts.
- Establish excellent relationships with both staff and pupils, promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Support the department and the wider school by contributing to the ethos, extra‑curricular activities, and whole‑school initiatives.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of current Science teaching issues and curriculum developments.
- Manage behaviour, safeguarding and welfare responsibilities, ensuring all pupils are safe and supported.
- Prepare and maintain administrative duties, keeping accurate lesson plans, assessment data and attendance records.
- Well‑qualified science graduate, or holder of a science‑related qualification.
- Highly skilled, enthusiastic and fully committed to the school ethos.
- Strong communication skills, both with pupils and staff, and a positive, resilient approach to pressure.
- Experience of using technology in the classroom, and a drive to innovate pedagogically.
- Organised, disciplined, and proficient with safeguarding and safeguarding procedures.
- Willingness to contribute to school life both inside and outside the classroom.
