Chichester College Group have an exciting opportunity for you to join us as a Learning Assistant. You will join us on a fixed term contract until 30 June 2026 and in return, we will offer a competitive salary of pro rata of £25,582 per annum.

The Learning Assistant role:

Are you looking to start a rewarding career in education in a part time role that can fit around your personal life and responsibilities?

As a Learning Assistant, you will support students requiring additional help with their programmes of study across various areas within College, creating positive relationships with them and assisting them in a classroom or workshop setting. This will include students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities, including emotional, social, behavioural and mobility needs. The work you do as a Learning Assistant will ensure our students’ have a rewarding and fulfilling experience at college.

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will have experience of working with people with learning difficulties and disabilities, as well as effective organisational, interpersonal and communication skills. A GCSE (or equivalent) in English at grade C/4 or above is also essential.

Key Responsibilities of our Learning Assistant:

Supporting, within and outside the classroom, the learning and emotional/social/ behavioural needs of students receiving additional support, in accordance with College policies.

Providing support for personal care where necessary, including administering medication.

Assisting the Head of SEND and Additional Learning Support, Learning Support Managers and Lecturers in the preparation and adaptation of learning materials/resources.

Taking part in and ensure the smooth and effective administration of the provision.

Creating and maintaining accurate records.

Assisting in the assessment of student needs.

To continually review the students’ support needs.

Attending team and all other meetings regarding both student and curriculum development.

Our ideal Learning Assistant should have the following skills and experience:

GCSE (or equivalent) in English at grade C/4 or above

Working with people with learning difficulties and/or disabilities, emotional, social and behavioural needs

Experience supporting the learning needs of students

The ability to communicate to a diverse range of people at all levels, verbally and in writing

Emotional resilience in the workplace
