Manorwood is an established planning, heritage, architecture and development consultancy delivering expert advice across a broad range of residential, commercial, mixed‑use and rural projects throughout the South East.
As our workload continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced Senior Town Planner to join our expanding team. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious planning professional to take a leading role in the delivery of varied planning projects, working closely with clients, local authorities and multidisciplinary colleagues.
The RoleThe successful candidate will provide planning advice across a diverse portfolio of projects ranging from residential developments to commercial, rural and mixed‑use schemes. You will manage projects from initial appraisal through to planning determination and, where required, appeal.
This role offers significant client exposure and the opportunity to help shape projects from the earliest stages of the development process.
Key Responsibilities- Managing a varied caseload of planning projects across residential, commercial, rural and mixed‑use sectors
- Preparing, coordinating and submitting planning applications
- Producing Planning Statements, Design and Access Statements and supporting reports
- Providing strategic planning advice to clients, landowners, developers and private individuals
- Undertaking site appraisals, planning policy reviews and development feasibility assessments
- Managing planning appeals and supporting appeal submissions
- Liaising with local planning authorities, statutory consultees and key stakeholders
- Coordinating project teams and external consultants
- Attending client meetings, public consultations and planning committee meetings where required
We are looking for a motivated and commercially minded planner who enjoys working collaboratively and is confident managing projects and client relationships.
- MRTPI qualified or working towards chartered status with significant relevant experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in planning consultancy, local government or the development sector
- Strong knowledge of the UK planning system and planning policy framework
- Experience managing planning applications and development projects
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organisational and project management abilities
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment
- Full UK driving licence
- Experience across a range of development sectors including residential, commercial and rural projects
- Appeal experience, including written representations, hearings or inquiries
- Knowledge of planning issues and opportunities across the South East
