Overview
Location:
Your office base will be Chichester, and a typical week will combine homeworking with attendance at the office, minimum twice a week, and some site visits. This is led by the needs of the service. As a Flood Risk Management Officer, you will work on the delivery of the County Council's duties to manage local flood risk. With a "Can do" attitude, you will champion sustainable solutions for the County with both internal and external stakeholders.
In this role your work will be varied.
Day to day tasks include:
Responsibilities- Supporting the delivery of the Council's Local Flood Risk Management Strategy.
- Investigating, consenting and enforcement (in relation to watercourses) relating to the Land Drainage Act 1991.
- Acting as a statutory consultee on sustainable drainage schemes under the planning system.
- Cooperation with other Risk Management Authorities.
- Ability to think through issues and problem solve whilst taking in the wider context and potential solutions.
- Working independently and managing your workload to ensure priorities and deadlines are achieved.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to ensure that information is presented in a clear format relevant to the audience.
- Ability to convey technical information, work as part of a team and build effective working relationships.
- Knowledge of the Authority's role in flood risk management and the ability to represent the County Council at meetings.
- Understanding of flood risk management principles and the national flood risk management agenda.
- Experience in a flood risk management related field.
- Experience of delivering projects and the skills required to deliver this.
- Sound and accurate IT knowledge to enable production of written reports, etc.
- £29,540 - £32,061 per year, progressing to £32,597 - £35,412, and then to £36,363 - £39,152 per annum.
