Job / Department Summary
Working independently, under the general direction of the Director of New Student Orientation and Transition Programs (NSOT), incumbent performs moderately complex professional services work. This position assists with the design, planning, coordination and implementation of New Student Orientation and Transition Programs. Responsibilities include scheduling facilities, recruiting and training student staff, developing and delivering presentations, and communicating with student participants and guests.
Incumbent will also facilitate workshops and training for student peer leaders, present to student and parent/guest orientation participants, and assist with training student staff to support academic advising as part of the orientation program. The role requires collaboration with partner offices including academic departments, faculty advisors, student service offices, and enrollment management entities. The incumbent must develop familiarity with university programs, processes, policies and services and work independently without day‑to‑day supervision.
This position creates a welcoming introduction to the university in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven office with high student and public contact.
Required Education and Experience
- Graduation from a four‑year college or university in behavioral sciences, public or business administration, or a related field.
- Three years of full‑time professional experience in a student services program area or related field; experience should demonstrate competence and potential for growth.
- A master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one year of professional experience.
- Additional specialized experience demonstrating successful application of Student Services professional knowledge and abilities may substitute for required education on a year‑for‑year basis.
Preferences
- Master's degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, or a related field.
- Four years of full‑time equivalent experience in higher education.
- Evidence of commitment to equity and inclusion.
- Understanding and interpretation of CSU, Chico State, and state‑mandated onboarding policies.
Time Base Full‑time.
Pay Plan 12/12.
Work Schedule Mon‑Fri 8:00 am‑5:00 pm;
Summer Mon‑Thurs 7:00 am‑5:30 pm.
CSU Classification Salary Range $66,480 – $94,716 per year.
