Kitchen Support Specialist at Boys & Girls Club of Chicopee, Inc. – Chicopee, MA

Part-Time position to support the Nutrition Coordinator in nutrition programs and initiatives. This role is a flexible, afternoon/evening position focused on working with youth to promote healthy nutrition, hands-on activities, and safe, engaging programming.

Overview

Everything we do at the Boys & Girls Club of Chicopee is to help every child achieve success. We strive to provide a safe place for youth ages 5 to 18 and to foster positive development in academics, healthy lifestyles, and character. As a part-time Kitchen Support Specialist, you will assist with youth-focused nutrition activities and program setup and cleanup, while supporting garden and chicken care as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the Nutrition Coordinator with activities and programs for youth ages 12 to 18, focusing on nutrition education and enrichment goals.
  • Help develop safe, age-appropriate programs that meet club goals and encourage positive development.
  • Set up for programs and clean up at the end of the day.
  • Provide support to the club’s outdoor gardens and chickens as needed.
  • Maintain program supplies inventories and equipment; request repairs or additional materials as needed.
  • Assist with off-site shopping and meal pickup as assigned.
  • Encourage member participation and regularly acknowledge their efforts.
  • Model kindness, patience, and respect; help resolve conflicts and promote positive alternatives.
  • Prioritize safety and create regular activity, attendance, and incident reports to track progress.
Qualifications
  • 18+ years old
  • First Aid and CPR certification
  • 9 months of supervised work experience with children or one practicum, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience working with youth aged 5 - 18
  • Ability to manage behavioral problems
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license or state
  • Willingness to comply with company policy regarding background checks
Work Schedule

This position typically follows a late afternoon to early evening schedule during after-school and evening programs: 1:30 PM – 6:30 PM Monday, Wednesday & Friday and 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM Tuesday & Thursday
.

Compensation

Salary: $15.00 – $18.00 per hour
, depending on experience. We offer benefits for part-time employees, paid sick time, and other perks.
