Job DescriptionThe Medical Assistant is responsible for coordinating patient flow within the office, preparing patients for office visits, escorting them to treatment rooms, obtaining patient information for medical records, and documenting information in patients’ chart. The MA organizes and prioritizes duties to optimize efficiency and promote positive patient outcomes.
What You Will Do- Prepares the room and patient for examination and treatment.
- Obtains pertinent history, enters into the medical record (chief complaint, medical and surgical history, allergies, medications, review of systems), and takes/documents patient vital signs.
- In treatment rooms, serves as a scribe between patient and physician, documenting all relevant information.
- Processes and files all lab/diagnostic test results, correspondence, clinical notes in patients’ chart after they have been reviewed by the physician.
- Ensures accurate and complete documentation on patient records and notifies providers and other departments of diagnostic testing results.
- Collaborates with reception to ensure patients are seen in a timely and efficient manner.
- Assists front office personnel by answering the telephone and scheduling patient appointments.
- Processes patient telephone calls and correspondence for the practice.
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- Preferred:
Minimum of six (6) months of related work experience. - Preferred:
Knowledge of medical assisting typically associated with an Associate’s Degree in Medical Assistance;
National Certification as a Medical Assistant is a plus.
