Rivers Electrical Services/ d.b.a. REAMCO (Rivers Electrical Apparatus Manufacturing Company) specializes in designing and manufacturing high-quality switch gear manufacturing at our Childersburg, AL facility. We are seeking a skilled and motivated Design Supervisor to lead our design team in producing high-quality electrical and mechanical drawings for custom equipment and assemblies. This position requires strong technical knowledge, leadership skills, and the ability to coordinate design projects from concept through release for production.

The Design Supervisor oversees daily design operations, ensuring that all drawings and documentation meet quality, schedule, and technical requirements. This role serves as the bridge between engineering, project management, and production—balancing workloads, maintaining standards, and supporting team development. The ideal candidate is a hands‑on leader with a strong background in electrical and mechanical design who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
This position would also involve performance management of all direct reports.
- Supervise and mentor design team members, ensuring adherence to project schedules and quality standards.
- Review and approve drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and design documentation for accuracy and completeness.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and production teams to ensure manufacturability and compliance with specifications.
- Manage design workloads, prioritize assignments, and track progress using project management tools.
- Maintain drawing standards, revision control, and file management systems.
- Provide technical guidance and assist in complex or high‑visibility design tasks as needed.
- Participate in design reviews and implement process improvements within the department.
- Support the development and training of junior designers and CAD technicians.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Design—or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in electrical or mechanical design, preferably in manufacturing or industrial equipment.
- 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience in a design environment preferred.
- Proficiency with CAD software (AutoCAD, Inventor, or similar).
- Strong understanding of drafting standards, engineering documentation, and revision control.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments and manage competing priorities.
- Mechanically minded with a deep understanding of how designs translate to fabrication, assembly, and field performance.
- Strong leadership presence — a driver who proactively identifies priorities, removes roadblocks, and pushes projects to completion.
- Exceptional communication skills to coordinate effectively between Engineering, Production, and Project Management.
- Demonstrated ability to coach and develop a team while maintaining accountability and focus.
- Experience with UL, NEC, or NEMA standards.
- Background in switch gear, control panels, or related electrical manufacturing preferred.
- Process‑oriented mindset with a focus on continual improvement and standardization.
- Comfortable in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven manufacturing environment.
