• Provides instruction in basic fundamentals of building maintenance (plumbing, electrical, masonry, carpentry, roofing, and drywall repair) and individual assistance
• Assesses educational needs of inmates
• Develops lesson plans to address those needs, including individual assignments and training
• Administers, scores, and interprets examinations and proficiency indicators
• Maintains discipline and/or security
• Counsels students concerning their performance, behavior and/or personal problems
• Attends meetings as required
• Prepares required records and reports (e.g., enrollment, grades, student progress)
• Inventories and orders supplies and materials needed
• Researches, selects, and recommends new teaching materials
• Attends in‑service training sessions and workshops for professional development and performs other duties as assigned

• This position prefers the candidate to hold a license to teach Plumbing from the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce, and to demonstrate at least five years of experience in the plumbing trade or equivalent training or certification.
• Must meet eligibility requirements for Teacher Certificate/License appropriate for career‑tech building maintenance & grade level as assigned; for Teacher 1, 71361, must also hold a baccalaureate degree or less per OEA agreement.
• Applicant must successfully obtain Teacher Certificate or License prior to employment.
