General Legal Assistant

We are currently seeking a General Legal Assistant in an entry level position to primarily assist our Land Department and to gradually learn the steps of a full-cycle residential conveyancing matter within our dedicated 6-member department.

Location:

Chilliwack office. This full-time position offers modern aesthetic work spaces with sit-stand desks and a competitive compensation package, including a Group RRSP matching program available after one year of employment.

• Attending to post-closing items such as holdback releases and mortgage discharges
• Assisting with preparing and organizing reporting packages for clients and lenders
• Following up on outstanding mortgage instructions, payout statements, insurance binders, etc. as required
• Contacting clients and other offices to verify account numbers and/or payment instructions prior to fund transfers or deposits
• Returning any original documents (Records Books, Powers of Attorney, Marriage Certificates, etc.) that were held temporarily
• Ordering title searches, tax certificates, strata documents and other due diligence searches as required
• Providing coverage for bank runs, file opening, collecting client information and intakes
• Organizing, scanning and saving documents and correspondence in the electronic file

• Meticulous attention to detail
• Post-secondary education (e.g., Applied Business Technology Certificate) preferred
• Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
• Strong computer skills as the practice moves toward increasingly digital and paperless processes
