Designs are created using up-to-date, three‑dimensional software. In addition to custom homes, the company provides drafting and design services for contracts, renovations, additions, agricultural, horticultural, and other specialized projects.
The Building Designer & Drafting role is a full‑time, on‑site position based in Chilliwack, BC. The role involves developing building designs and detailed drawings for custom homes, renovations, additions, and other residential or agricultural projects using modern 3D design software. Day‑to‑day tasks include interpreting client and contractor requirements, preparing construction‑ready plans, coordinating with structural and construction professionals, and revising drawings based on feedback and code requirements.
The Building Designer will review design feasibility, ensure accuracy in measurements and details, and help maintain project schedules by providing clear, buildable documentation. Collaboration with the design team and effective communication with clients and trades are essential components of the role.
- Candidates should possess strong skills in Building Design and Architectural Design, with experience creating detailed plans for custom homes and renovations.
- Candidates should possess knowledge of Architecture concepts to support, compliant, and buildable designs.
- Candidates should possess familiarity with Construction processes and terminology to ensure drawings are practical and efficient for on‑site use.
- Proficiency in current 2D and 3D drafting/design Autodesk Revit software and AutoCAD and strong technical drawing abilities.
- Understanding of local building codes, zoning regulations, and permitting requirements in British Columbia and the willingness to learn them.
- Strong attention to detail, spatial visualization skills, and the ability to solve design and constructability challenges.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with clients, contractors, and internal team members.
- Relevant education in architectural technology, building design, drafting, or a related field; equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
- Candidates must be able to type a minimum of 40 wpm.
- Familiarity with Lumion rendering software.
- Knowledge of structural and MEP coordination.
