Local Department Head - Anesthesiology - Chilliwack General Hospital

Join Fraser Health Authority as the Local Department Head for the Anesthesiology Department at Chilliwack General Hospital.

The Regional Department of Anesthesiology seeks a Local Department Head to lead clinical services, quality improvement, administration, physician resource planning, dispute resolution, and legal issues at CGH.

• Ensure effective delivery of clinical services in alignment with regional and site plans.
• Liaise with the RDH and departmental staff to monitor and meet budget, volume, and quality targets.
• Engage in multidisciplinary quality improvement and utilization management activities.
• Oversee standards of medical practice and investigate complaints per RDH direction.
• Attend Multidisciplinary Healthcare Co‑ordinating Committee meetings and serve as a communication channel between regional department and facility.
• Recommend policies/guidelines consistent with Medical Staff by‑laws and rules.
• Promote health, wellness, and a respectful workplace among members.
• Review physician resource requirements with the RDH and support staff selection for the regional department.
• Mediates disputes involving department members at site.
• Identify potential liability and legal issues and advise RDHs, PMD, and legal counsel.

• Senior leadership experience guiding complex organizational change in health services.
• Leadership in medical education and innovative patient‑care models.
• Experience integrating program needs within the broader health delivery system.
• Ability to lead within a matrix reporting structure.
• Knowledge of planning concepts related to service delivery, budgeting, staffing, quality, and strategic initiatives.
• Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills at senior level.
• Proficiency in health‑program leadership practice.

• Member of the Active Staff.
• Member of (or prepared to join) the Department of Anesthesiology.
• Actively practicing in Anesthesiology.
• Primary site at Chilliwack General Hospital.
• Current CPSBC licensure.
