Term Librarian & Early Literacy Teacher

Location: Agassiz

Become an integral part of Kent Elementary School as a Term Specific Librarian and Literacy Teacher, focusing on Early Literacy in Hope, BC. Engage with students to create a rich learning environment.

The position offers a 0.8 F.T.E. role starting September 8, 2026, and lasts until June 25, 2027. Candidates must hold a valid B.C. Teaching Certificate and an elementary education degree. Preference is given to applicants with library experience or a library sciences degree, particularly those knowledgeable about Indigenous cultures and early literacy strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Facilitate literacy development for young learners

• Oversee library functions and resources

• Collaborate with staff on literacy initiatives

• Build relationships with Indigenous families

• Regularly evaluate student literacy achievements

Requirements:

• B.C. Teaching Certificate is mandatory

• University degree in elementary education

• Library experience or degree preferred

• Emphasis on early literacy practices

• Experience with Indigenous communities highly valued
