Position: Aboriginal Education Assistant Role
Seek a meaningful role as an Aboriginal Education Assistant focused on supporting students in their educational journey. This part-time position emphasizes one-on-one assistance with cultural sensitivity and collaboration with the community.

In this role, you will work closely with Aboriginal students under teacher guidance, providing academic and emotional support. Your duties will include liaisons with schools, homes, and community organizations. Regular meetings with students to provide life skills guidance, along with the integration of cultural curriculum, are core to this position.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist Aboriginal students individually or in small groups

• Conduct necessary home visits in consultation with the Principal

• Advocate and communicate effectively for students and families

• Plan cultural activities and learnings for the students

• Provide classroom management support and distribute materials

Requirements:

• High School diploma with post-secondary human services program

• Six months of experience working with children

• Valid Class 5 driver's license

• Knowledge of Aboriginal culture and the Halq'emeylem language

• Ability to respond to challenging situations appropriately
