Fall 2027 Basic Hair Program
This Basic Hair Design series equips students for entry level positions in the hair industry. The program is taught by some of the top stylists in the valley, including Refinery House Creative Director Aly Joyce. Students benefit from a low student-to-teacher ratio and small class sizes of 6-10 participants.
Schedule
Tues – Fri 10 am–3 pm, Sept 13 2027 – March 17 2028
Theory portion completes Nov 26 2027
Technical portion runs Nov 30 2027 – March 17 2028
Break Days
Dec 21 – 24 2027
The program runs for 26 weeks plus one week vacation and consists of 520 hours. It includes 10 classes designed by Aly Joyce, briefly described on our website.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must be available for an in-person placement interview
Must be a high-school graduate or at least 19 years old at the start of the program
Upon acceptance, a non-refundable $200 registration fee is required with the completed form
Reference from a teacher, employer, or other professional may be required
Resume or expository work experience history
Provide evidence of English comprehension through one of the following:
High school diploma from an English-speaking country: 3 years of full-time secondary education (Grades 8-12) completed in the program’s language of instruction. This may include a BC Adult Graduation program.
2 years of full-time post-secondary education completed in the program’s language of instruction in an English-speaking country.
Standardized English proficiency test at a level equivalent to IELTS 5.5 Academic or higher. Accepted tests and minimum scores:
IELTS Academic overall score of 5.5 or higher.
CAEL Test overall score of 40 or higher.
Duolingo English Test overall score of 95 or higher.
Use verified results dated no more than two years before the program start date.
Program admission requirements may not be waived by the student or the institution.

Tuition: $9,700
Professional Kit: $2,500 + $125 GST
Registration Fee: $200
