Support student well-being at Seabird Island as a School Counsellor. Provide counselling and educational support in a culturally safe environment, promoting personal and academic growth.
The School Counsellor collaborates with the Principal to enhance the learning experience of students. This role emphasizes personal and social counselling, community engagement, and inclusive educational guidance. With a focus on students’ social and emotional development, you'll become integral to fostering a safe and supportive school culture.
Key Responsibilities:
• Create a nurturing environment for open student communication
• Offer personal and social counselling to students and families
• Facilitate collaboration with community agencies and schools
• Support academic development through individualized learning plans
• Provide life skills instruction, including conflict resolution
Requirements:
• Master's Degree in Counselling Psychology or related field
• Minimum 3 years of school counselling experience
• Knowledge of Indigenous cultures and teachings
• Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
• Commitment to creating a culturally safe environment
