Culturally Informed School Counsellor

Join Seabird Island as a Culturally Informed School Counsellor. Support students' mental health and academic growth while promoting Indigenous knowledge and values in the school environment.

In this role, you will work under the Principal's guidance to foster an inclusive atmosphere that respects Indigenous languages and traditions. By delivering effective counselling and establishing trust, you will empower students in their personal development and academic journey. Collaborating with community agencies and educational staff is key to this position.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide counselling to enhance self-esteem and decision-making

• Assist students in exploring educational and career pathways

• Collaborate with staff for student social and emotional support

• Develop Individual Educational Plans with administrators

• Maintain accurate records and participate in school meetings

Requirements:

• Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology

• At least 3 years school counselling experience required

• Familiarity with Indigenous community dynamics

• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills

• High ethical and professional standards
