Become an Avalanche Program Specialist with the BC Public Service, focusing on avalanche safety and hazard management. This full-time role operates in dynamic winter environments.
In collaboration with the District Avalanche Supervisor, your role includes planning and delivering the Avalanche Safety Program. You'll monitor avalanche activity, evaluate snow stability, and contribute to operational procedures during elevated hazard situations. Your professional judgment is essential for maintaining safe conditions on the roads and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive observations of weather and snowpack

• Plan and execute controlled avalanche operations

• Advise on risk assessment and mitigation strategies

• Collaborate with various agencies and emergency services

• Maintain safety compliance with established standards
Requirements:

• Relevant post-secondary education or substantial experience

• Minimum two seasons in avalanche management programs

• Certification with the Canadian Avalanche Association required

• Proven ability to handle physical demands of mountainous work

• Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence
