The Housekeeper at Phoenix Society performs heavy to light cleaning duties toensure that the suites andcommon areas in the facility are in a clean and orderly condition, working in tandem with other janitorial staff and volunteers. Key responsibilities include: cleaning floors; shampooing rugs; washing walls and windows;removing garbage; laundry; cleaning appliances; and notifying management whenany supplies or repairs are required.

• Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing or vacuuming
• Strip, seal, finish and polish floors as required
• Gatherand empty all garbage, recycling and compost bins
• Service,clean and supply restrooms
• Cleanand polish furniture, fixtures and appliances
• Cleanwindows, glass partitions and mirrors
• Dustfurniture, walls, machines and equipment
• Steam-cleanand/or shampoo carpets or rugs
• Makebeds and keep linens in stock as needed;
• Performslaundry duties such as washing linens and clothing.
• Followprocedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment
• Perform other duties as requested

• Monitorbuilding security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after cleaning and checking electrical appliances to ensure that hazards are notcreated
• Notifymanagers concerning the need for major repairs, minor renovations, or building operating systems service
• Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties
• Maintain and organize cleaning equipment, materials and supplies
• Perform other duties as required

• Academic:
  
  Successful completion of Grade 12
• 1to 3 years of related experience providing custodial and/or housekeeping services
• Relatedpost-secondary and WHMIS training is an asset
• Valid Class 5 driver’s licence is required
• Satisfactorycompletion of a criminal records check with vulnerable sector screening is required
• Satisfactorycompletion of Tuberculosis Screening form is required
• Satisfactorycompletion of Employee Immunization Record form is required
• First Aid certification with CPR is required

• English:fluent and able to effectively communicate professionally, both orally and written
• Demonstrated experience in custodial services and/or housekeeping
• Ability to perform heavy tolight cleaning duties including heavy lifting, climbing stairs, and standing for extended periods of time
• Basic computer skills including
  
  Microsoft Office.
• Strong organizational and time management skills with a high attention to detail
