The Role
The Manufacturing Planner is an integral component of the transfer of orders from engineering to production through the review, development, and implementation of detailed bills of manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with planning, purchasing, inventory and receiving teams to ensure timely and efficient job execution
Support the Team Lead and Production Planning Administrator as required
Set‑up and maintain an inventory of manufactured parts
Generate work orders and print travelers/packages for production in a timely manner
Work in Visual regularly, setting up min/max levels and lead times. Monitor and update as required
Work closely with the Purchaser to initiate purchase orders according to inventory and demand
Review work order pre‑pull materials list and review for coordination with warehouse operations and stock management
Monitor work order progress and flag delays or bottlenecks as required
Support standardization of part numbering / descriptions
Receive drawings, bills of material and specifications from engineering. Request master updates as needed
Provide and/or receive estimates for projects that include the hours and materials used to develop the quote
Update work order want dates as needed
Monitor open WIP and ensure timely review, resolution, and closure of work orders to maintain accurate system data
Use software such as Visual, Smart Views and company platforms
Work in accordance with documented procedures and complete all applicable records
What You Bring
High school diploma or GED equivalent
1–2 years’ experience in manufacturing
Previous experience using ERP system including maintaining masters
Strong interpersonal skills such as verbal and written communication, and listening with a proven ability to communicate technical matters to all levels of the organization effectively
Knowledge of manufacturing capabilities within the company as well as efficient manufacturing process capabilities of subcontractors
Able to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints
Ability to develop a high level of product knowledge, knowledge of inventory parts made in house and standard shop practices
