Spare Board – Production Packer (Chilliwack)

The primary role of the Production Packer is to provide critical support in reducing production downtime, assisting the Production Supervisor or Line Lead Hand in planning and supporting the production staff to create engagement and productivity. This is a spare board position; work hours are scheduled solely on operational needs and do not guarantee a set number of hours per week.

• Supports the Puratos safety and quality system by implementing and following procedures, enforcing GMP requirements, and participating in training.
• Performs tasks to meet daily targets, including filling in for breaks, scheduled absences, and unscheduled absences.
• Works unsupervised when required and collaborates effectively with team members.
• Can bend and lift up to 60 lbs and stand for eight hours minimum.
• Responds appropriately to emergency or unscheduled equipment issues, troubleshooting problems and determining when maintenance assistance is needed.
• Practices and enforces QA, HACCP, Food Safety, and SQF 2000 requirements in all aspects of production operation.
• Assists in developing SOPs and Standard Work documentation, trains staff on SOPs, and ensures employee adherence.
• Actively participates in toolbox meetings with other staff.
• Maintains a respectful, safe, and healthy work environment.
• Assists with positive cross‑functional/departmental relationships.
• Fosters safe work practices by enforcing standard safety procedures and developing practical recommendations for safety practices.
• Contributes to a continuous‑improvement environment by recommending measures to improve methods, performance, and quality of processes, and suggests changes to increase efficiency.
• Identifies, recommends, and implements cost‑saving measures.
• Handles chemicals safely and operates manual and/or electrical pallet jacks.
• Serves as a safety leader, working with others and looking out for team safety.
• Reports all quality and safety issues immediately.
• Performs miscellaneous tasks as required.

• Responsible for material handling, machine operation, and product protection.
• Maintains machine area clean, tidy, and free of hazards; prevents entanglement in moving parts.
• Preserves protective devices required by the employer or regulations.
• Avoids operating equipment or working in ways that endanger workers.
• Reports any known workplace hazard to the employer or supervisor.

• Grade 12 or equivalent
• Proven record of safety and good attendance and punctuality
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including one‑on‑one and group settings
• Proficiency with numbers/basic math
• Problem‑solving skills with good analytical ability and equipment/mechanical troubleshooting
• Organized approach to work, effective time management, task prioritization, and efficient shift between tasks
• Experience in a culturally diverse work environment
• Working proficiency with MS Office and internet applications
• Ability to work flexible hours and overtime as required

• Hourly Rate of Pay: $23.41 per hour (unionized position)
