OverviewThe RN provides direct patient care in Emergency, Medical, and Hospice Units of Fraser Canyon Hospital. The role requires assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing interventions in an acute/rural hospital setting.
Responsibilities- Assesses patients and collects data using observation, communication, and physical assessment skills.
- Determines nursing diagnoses and plans, performs, and evaluates nursing interventions.
- Collaborates with patients, families, and interprofessional teams to develop, implement, and modify care plans.
- Participates in admission, discharge, and transfer planning, ensuring continuity of care.
- Coordinates nursing care, sets priorities, delegates tasks, and makes referrals according to protocols.
- Teaches patients and families about illness prevention and self‑care, documenting learning needs and outcomes.
- Participates in committees, quality improvement activities, and continuing education programs.
- Preceptors new nursing staff and students, sharing information and demonstrating care activities.
- Graduation from an approved School of Nursing and current registration with BCCNM.
- One year of recent experience providing emergency nursing care in an acute/rural hospital.
- Current CPR certificate.
- Current cardiac monitoring, emergency assessment, and medical assessment skills.
- Ability to initiate intravenous therapy, maintain I.V. lines, and use related equipment such as non‑invasive blood pressure machines and pulse oximeters.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, teaching, and problem‑solving skills.
- Higher overall compensation (regular status RN).
